The Effect of BMI on Common Habits in a Part of Officer


Abstract
The purpose of this study was to find out the effect of BMI on common habits in a part of officer, the author investigated 476 subjects selected 500 persons who had taken check-ups at a health examination according to executive rules of a Public Corporation of Administration of Medical Insureance in a hospital in Chungnam from May 1 to January 30, 1992.
The results were as follows:
1. Of the 476 subjects, males were 70.6 %, females were 29.4 %. Below 19.9 was 16.8 %, 20.0 ?25.0 was 67.2 %, over 25.1 was 16.0 % in BMI.
2. Work index was 2.528, sports index was 2.554, leisure-time index 2.598 in physical activity index, mean of calorie intake was 1,076 Kcal.
3. Mean of BMI according to age was higher the 40¢¥s and 50¢¥s than the 20¢¥s and 30¢¥s.
Mean of BMI according to smoking, drinking, coffee intake habits were higher smoker, drinker, coffee intaker than nonsmoker, nondrinker, coffee no intaker. But no difference was classified by sex. Mean of BMI according to work index and liesure-time index of physical activity was no difference in between I and II group, but sports index was difference caloric-intake was no difference.
4. Variables as like age, sex, drinking, smoking related to BMI in correlation. Those were statistically significant (p < 0.01).
5. The effective variables to BMI were sequence age, sex, drinking, leisure-time index. Capability of interpretation was 23 %.
